Data Leads PLLC - Session 2

We are delighted to invite you to the second session of the Inspiring Leaders Data Leads Professional Learning Community (PLLC). This network brings together colleagues from across our MAT partnership who lead, influence, or support the use of data in their trusts — whether in operational, strategic or development roles. 

Each session focuses on key themes identified by the group, with a blend of peer discussion, external insight, and practical collaboration. This term, we are focusing on the development of trust-wide data strategy, from systems and platforms to culture, leadership and governance.

Session details

This session will feature input from Ian Gilsenan who is Trust Data Director at Delta Academies Trust, which serves 64 academies (22 secondary, 38 primary, 1 all-through, and 2 alternative provision settings). 

He joined Delta in 2016, bringing over 20 years of experience in education — including leadership roles as Assistant Principal in four schools, and as Regional Data Lead for Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), which supports 73 academies nationally. 

Ian’s background in Computer Science and school leadership gives him a unique perspective on the technical and cultural demands of effective data strategy. 

At Delta, his responsibilities include: 

• Leading on MIS and third-party systems 

• Power BI development 

• KS4 target setting and KS3/KS4 assessment and reporting 

• GL Assessment leadership and results analysis across all key stages 

• ICFP, timetabling, and DfE census returns 

• Exams policy development and attendance guidance 

• National collaboration through the Education Exchange network of over 50 MATs
