Event overview
Focused online support for Year 6 practitioners
As the KS2 SATs period approaches, Year 6 teams are juggling high expectations with the everyday realities of classroom life.
Designed to supplement our face to face programme, these sessions are a flexible way to access the same expert input wherever you're based. Each one has a single, clear focus, giving you the chance to go deeper on a specific area of KS2 SATs preparation without it taking you away from school for long.
It's part of a growing regional programme building on last year's KS2 SATs Support Network, which brought Year 6 teachers and leaders together for expert input, practical guidance and the reassurance of knowing you're not tackling this alone.
Join Emily Mayer, Headteacher at St Peter's C of E GOWTS Primary School, and discover how evidence-informed teaching approaches can strengthen learning attitudes and improve outcomes for all pupils, particularly those who are disadvantaged. Using case study evidence, this session will explore effective daily assessment practices, including live marking and identifying misconceptions to inform pre-teaching. Delegates will also examine the role of Tier 2 and Tier 3 vocabulary, cognitive load theory, and metacognition in developing confident, independent learners, with practical strategies grounded in pupil premium research.
