Event overview

Join colleagues at Field House Infant and Nursery School for an inspiring Excellence in Practice Visit showcasing how a purposeful and precisely designed Early Years provision transformed outcomes and secured an Outstanding judgement for EYFS. Ofsted feedback highlighted that: "Children in the early years get off to an exceptional start because every activity is precisely designed to meet their needs and promote learning."

Delegates will gain first-hand insight into the school's improvement journey and explore how curriculum design, assessment, provision and teaching strategies work together to ensure every child gets an exceptional start to their education.

Hosted within the Embark Federation, the session will demonstrate how high expectations, collaboration and evidence-informed practice have driven significant improvements, even within a context of above-average deprivation, high numbers of pupils with SEND, and significant language and communication needs. Embark Federation believes that every child deserves an excellent education regardless of background or starting point.

Throughout the morning, delegates will:

  • Explore a coherent EYFS curriculum designed to secure exceptional progress.

  • See how assessment is used to identify needs and drive responsive planning.

  • Understand how indoor and outdoor provision is intentionally designed to develop knowledge, vocabulary and skills.

  • Observe high-quality adult interactions that extend thinking and accelerate learning.

  • Learn about the systems and leadership approaches that ensure consistency across teams and sustain outstanding outcomes.

The visit includes a leadership presentation from school leaders, an immersive learning walk through Nursery and Reception settings, and opportunities to examine evidence of impact through planning examples, assessment approaches, pupil outcomes and professional discussion. Delegates will see practical examples of curriculum sequencing, language-rich provision, purposeful assessment, sustained shared thinking and strategies that support children with SEND.
