Event overview
Join us at Sunnyside Spencer Academy to see how a carefully embedded digital strategy is transforming learning and ensuring every child can succeed. Rooted in the school's inclusive ethos and SHINE values of Success, Happiness, Independence, Nurture and Enrich, this visit will showcase how technology is used purposefully to remove barriers, promote independence and secure high-quality learning for all pupils.
Serving a diverse community, with 54% of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium, 32% receiving SEND support or monitoring, and 32% speaking English as an Additional Language, Sunnyside Spencer Academy has developed an innovative approach that ensures pupils can keep up, not catch up. Delegates will see how 1:1 iPads are embedded into everyday classroom practice to remove barriers, provide timely scaffolding, immediate feedback and personalised support, enabling all pupils to access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers.
Through classroom visits, discussions with leaders and conversations with pupils, participants will explore how digital tools such as Showbie are used to deliver meaningful feedback, model learning through audio and video, and adapt resources in real time. You will also see how accessibility features including text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation tools, immersive reading and visual supports empower pupils with SEND, EAL and additional needs to learn confidently alongside their classmates.
This visit will demonstrate how technology supports a continuous cycle of feedback, reflection and improvement, allowing misconceptions to be identified and addressed immediately rather than through later intervention. Delegates will gain insight into how pupils independently select digital tools to support their learning, building resilience, confidence and ownership, while maintaining high expectations for every learner.
