Event overview

Join the Leaders' Learning Exchange 2026/27 cohort

This is the first session of the Leaders Learning Exchange, bringing together all participating schools to get the programme underway.

The launch event is a chance to meet the other leaders you'll be working with across the year, agree on ways of working, and trial the tools and resources that will underpin your visits. It sets the foundation for everything that follows.

How the programme works

The Leaders Learning Exchange pairs schools in triads, with each school taking part in three half-day reciprocal visits across the academic year - hosting one and attending two. Each visit is structured around coaching conversations, drawing on the work of Sir Jim Knight, with a focus on identifying impactful practice and exchanging honest, professional dialogue.

The programme is designed for headteachers who are ready to look beyond their own setting, share what's working, and engage openly with the challenges their peers are navigating.

Now open to all state-funded schools in the region - including academies and maintained schools - and completely free of charge, this is an opportunity to build meaningful professional relationships beyond your own setting.

About the launch event

The programme begins with a face-to-face launch event where participants meet their triad partners, establish shared priorities and explore the principles that will underpin their work together throughout the year.

Leaders will have the opportunity to:

  • Build relationships with their triad partners.

  • Identify shared challenges and areas of focus.

  • Establish ways of working and communication protocols.

  • Explore coaching approaches that support productive professional dialogue.

  • Begin planning their first school visits.

This session lays the foundations for a year of trust, challenge and collaborative learning.
